Commander's
Message: Fellow Legion, Auxiliary, and S.A.L. Members.
Due to the destruction of Post 119's building in Gulfport, we
are sharing the building of the Gulfport Elk's Lodge. It is located
at 12010 Klein Road off of Three Rivers Road in Gulfport.
See our Contact
Page for more information. The Lounge may be used by any
Legion, Auxiliary, S.A.L., or Elk Member and their guests. The
Bartenders may ask to see your Membership Card until they know
who the Members are. The Lounge will be closed during our General
Membership Meetings, which will be held on the 2nd Monday of
each month at 7pm. The Lounge will reopen following our meeting.
Also, the Lounge will be closed during the Elks Lodge meetings,
which are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm.
The Lounge will reopen following the Elk's meetings. |

From: Post Commander
Jim Tolar, American Legion Post 119 Gulfport Mississippi
Beginning May 1st, all of our public
attended functions in the Hall will be Non-Smoking events. This
is due to the City of Gulfport's new No Smoking Ordinance. That
includes our Bingo and Dance's. The Lounge will be a Smoking
Permitted Lounge, so Members will be able to go into the Lounge
to smoke but non-members must go outside and 20 feet away from
any entrance or exit doors to smoke. No smoking will be allowed
in the Restrooms also. If a non-member is caught smoking in the
Hall or restroom, they will be politely asked to leave! Non-members
will be allowed to enter the Lounge to purchase a drink and then
leave, but they cannot light a cigarette white waiting to be
served!
Due to this Ordinance, Key Cards
will also go into effect on May 1st. If you do not have one,
stop by the Post or Elks office and get one, but you must have
your 2008 Membership Card to get one. 2007 Cards are no longer
valid!
Our $10 Steak and Dance Night
this month will be on Saturday, May 10th beginning at 6:30 pm.

there!
The May 12th General Membership
Meeting this month will include Nominations for the 2008 - 2009
Officers and Executive Committee. Before you nominate or accept
a nomination be sure you know the responsibilities of the Office.
In June we will reopen nominations then vote for our new Officers
and Executive Committee.
We need another "Caller"
for Bingo! They must be able to commit to being at Bingo every
Wednesday and Friday evenings. Contact me immediately if you
are interested!

all the trimmings, in the Lounge for only a $8.00 donation.

Hello all. We are doing well on
Membership. We are near 80%...but we can do better.
Thank you if you have already renewed your Membership. If you
haven't, we need to receive your renewal ASAP. This Post very
much needs your support!!!
In case you didn't know, we are trying
to start an American Legion Riders Chapter here at our Post.
But to do this, we need folks with Motorcycles to hold Offices.
Once we get started, it is believed our Chapter will grow and
expand in Membership. We will be holding a Meeting on March 10th
at 6:30pm. This first meeting is just to get a feel about how
many are interested in joining our Chapter. I hope to see you
there. If you are interested, but cannot attend, call me at the
Legion Office and let me know.
Remember Our Military & Their Families!!!
