Final Regular-Season 2A Class Individual Rankings

By The PREDICTOR

Kurt Lang

The 2A ranks were thinned by a couple of schools this season, but the competition is still pretty fierce.  As in years past, the CWAC will produce lots of placers, with good distribution from the rest of the state.

I’m sure, as always, that there are some wrestlers I’ve overlooked.  If you want them recognized, send me their stats and information (wapredictor@hotmail.com) and I’ll see if I can make some revisions.

For those of you who have E-mailed me results, information, and opinions, my undying gratitude is yours.  I have been so terribly busy that I haven’t had a chance to do anything but keep the database up-to-date.  I apologize for not answering promptly, and I’ll try to catch up as soon as I can.

103

Romi Gonzales is the best in the state at 103, perhaps in any school classification.  In a weight class usually populated by lots of freshmen, we may get to see some older kids in Tacoma this February.  Justin Smith of Elma is making 103 regularly, and Eric McKerlie of Leavenworth may get to the Dome this season.

Stu Draper is a tough customer, and won’t let too much get in his way in the post-season.  I expect Anthony Kautz to be back, but didn’t hear anything about him for much of the season.  Besides them, this class may be up for grabs.

There’s a storm a’brewin’ in the CWAC, and it involves two extraordinary wrestlers in Jon Limbeck and Sergio Avila.  So far as I know, they haven’t met yet this season, but the will—maybe a couple of times.  Right now, I give the top slot to Limbeck because of his hunger for good competition—he’s wrestled up at 130 just for the extra challenge—and won.

Seth Weatherman is a returning champ who hasn’t lost a step.  He got third in the Tri State, beating a tenacious Tyson Hintz of Moses Lake with a major decision.  In the Northwestern corner, Anthony Zender and Tyler Glahn may have to duke it out a couple of times  more on the way to Tacoma.

Jordan Bradbury has been to the finals three times, and could become one of about twenty guys in the state that have made four.  I believe it is unlikely he’ll be the only four-time runner-up in history—he’s hitting on all cylinders and seems unstoppable.
